Valentin Danilovitch Bernadski was born in Ozeryane, Chernihiv region of Ukraine in 1917. He studied at the renowned I. E. Repin Institute 1940-50, and began exhibiting in 1952.He was a teacher at Sympheropl Art College 1950-52.

 

Awarded medal of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea (1998). He was a professor in Crimean Art School (1950-1952). Participated in exhibitions: Republican (1954), Union (1950), personal – 1988, 2002 (Kyiv), 1992 (Paris). Major works: “Meeting in Dzhankoy” (1952); “Crimean Autumn” (1959 – 1960); “In the vineyard” (1961)

 

Member of the National Union of artists of Ukraine People’s Artist of Ukraine (1950), People`s Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1989) and the Russian Federation (2003).

 

Represented in art museums of Ukraine. He lived and worked in Simferopol, died on September 21, 2011.

 

Gallery notes: A very good example of Soviet Impressionist painting, warm and colourful impasto, and lovely use of light.
