Born in Fontainebleau in 1868, Paul Bellanger- Adhemar was a pupil of Jules Lefebvre and Francois Cormon, and exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1894. He became a member of the Society des Artistes Francais where he exhibited until 1925, receiving an honourable mention in 1900 and a 3rd class medal in 1903. He first showed landscapes of Corsica, then views of Holland, Brittany and Italian gardens. He published colour etchings with the Paris gallery G. Petit. He died in 1948.

Gallery notes: A very large, colourful Mediterranean harbour scene by Paul Bellanger-Adhemar, showing the influence of French impressionist Charles Malfroy (1862-1918) who had a studio at Les Port Martigues during his period.
Recently cleaned and lightly restored by our gallery, and presented in the original and superb antique Lebrun gilt frame.
