Artist Biography
This stunning portrait is by a talented artist painting in the manner of the portrait painter Gilbert Stuart, and influenced Thomas Gainsborough. Gilbert is best known for his unfinished Athenaeum portrait of George Washington. This is the image seen on the U.S. one dollar bill. Gilbert Stuart is widely considered to be one of America’s foremost portraitists.
