Artist Biography

This highly decorative pair of French school paintings are good early copies of Francois Boucher’s, well known allegories. Boucher worked in the Rococo style is known for his idyllic and voluptuous paintings on classical themes, decorative allegories, and pastoral scenes. He was perhaps the most celebrated painter and decorative artist of the 18th century.

Painted in the early part of the 19th century and presented in Ornate Gilt Composition Frames as overdoor pictures.

Boucher’s original allegories of similar size sold Christies in 2005 for £1,184,000.
