Artist Biography
James Sant R.A. (1820-1916) was one of the most celebrated portraitists of his time and portrait painter to Queen Victoria.
Gallery note: This well executed Victorian portrait is in our opinion a work of the period of James Sant by an unknown artist with the artist’s influence (‘Circle of’).
We have handled several portraits by James Sant, many were unsigned, oval form in his trademark gilded frames, which were very elaborate and similar to our fine frame.
