Artist Biography
François Pierre Barry studied painting at the Art School of Marseille with Augustin Aubert, then in Paris in 1840 in the workshop of Theodore Gudin. Barry’s harbour views, including Marseille, were very successful. The artist accompanied Prince Napoleon (Napoleon Joseph Bonaparte) in Egypt in 1862 and carried out many orientalist scenes.
