Andrea Soldi was born in Florence and came to London in 1736. He quickly gained a reputation and for about a decade was London’s foremost portrait painter. But his lifestyle was lively and somewhat intemperate, causing him to be imprisoned for debt in the mid 1740’s. It is said that Sir Joshua Reynolds paid for his funeral.
The Hon.Thomas Craven (1715-1772)
A British Naval Officer born 1715.Father John Craven, wife of Maria Rebecca Green. Entered the service in September 1730 at the age of 15and promoted through the ranks to Rear Admiral of the Blue in 1770. Elected MP for Berkshire in 1772.
Thomas Craven’s Will is recorded in the National Archives,13 January 1773: The Hon.Thomas Craven, Rear Admiral of The Blue of Benham Place, Berkshire.
