Martin-Sauvaigo was born in Nice in 1881 and became a painter of landscapes and seascapes. He was a pupil of Leon Bonnat and Luc Olivier Merson.
He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Francais in Paris from 1910 onwards. He received a mention and won the Prix de Savoie in 1913, a bronze medal in 1921,a silver in 1923,and Prix Paul Liot in 1925.He became a painter to the French Navy and was made Chevalier of the Legion of d’ Honneur .
He produced many decorative works for public buildings in the South of France.
