He travelled extensively through England and Scotland.
His use of expansive skies in his paintings, give the sense of vast open spaces extending far beyond the scene itself.
Gelissen lived in Brussels and studied under H.Van Asche,Crete and Mortelique.
Gelissen’s most well-known painting is Landscape at Ruysbroeck (1820), in the collection of the Museum of Ghent.
