London based artist who seems to have been a gentleman of private means but a very talented artist.
There is some reference that he came from America to travel and paint in Europe and was particularly taken with Italy and Venice in particular.
He did exhibit in London but there is no further record of him in Britain, so he may well have returned to America if the report is true.
He had a most interesting technique which shows the influence of Whistler and Greaves amongst others with an eye to Impressionism too.
This pair are most unusual in that they seem to be morning and night but instead of them both being views of the city, one is on the Grand Canal and the other on the marshes of the Lagoon.
