An English Post-Impressionist from Sussex
Vernon southward studied at the Heatherley`s School of Art under Iain Macnab, and exhibited at London Galleries in the 50`s and 60`s. Landscapes of the English and Mediterranean countryside were exhibited at the Paris Salon in the 70`s, receiving a ‘honourable mention’ in 1975 for his work-‘a snow in Mottisfont’
This lovely Sussex landscape is close Vernon’s home in Midhurst, and is one of his last paintings.
