Arthur Gilbert was a London landscape painter, who exhibited 48 works at the Royal Academy, 1836-94. Titles at RA include river scenes, moonlight and twilight scenes (and from 1874 a few Egyptian landscapes)
Like Henry J. Boddington (q.v.) A.G.Williams he changed his name to Arthur Gilbert to avoid confusion with other members of the Williams family.
Arthur was the fourth son of Edward Williams.
A stunning Welsh landscape with an essential feeling of tranquillity, so typical of Gilbert at his best.
