Biography

George Augustus Williams was the third son of Edward Williams (1782 - 1855) and was born on 4 May 1814 in the St. Marylebone district of London. By 1841 he and his wife Caroline had four sons and a daughter. For some years during the early 1840’s they lived a few doors away from Edward Charles Williams in London Street.

The family then moved out to Barnes, the same time as his father, although his new home, 4 Castelnau Cottages was rather more modest. G.A was a quiet, unostentatious man and he continued to live in Barnes for over 50 years, very close to the Thames.

George Augustus Williams died on 26 May 1901, aged 87 and is buried with his father at Old Barnes Cemetery.
