Juan Soler is a 20th century Spanish impressionist painter from Madrid. He was self taught and found inspiration from the Spanish and French impressionists’ paintings to be found in museums in Madrid. He devoted his time entirely to painting from 1971, and soon participated in collective exhibitions, gaining recognition as an impressionist painter of fashionable Parisian life set in the late 19th century.
His paintings are full of colour and highly collected. Today his work can be found galleries in Madrid and Paris.
The present work dates to about the 1980’s when his canvases were of a large scale. Interestingly Soler has sold over the last decade a limited amount of paintings, normally small pairs of Parisian scenes through Christie’s auctions in London; they always find a buyer and command high prices.
