Biography

Francis Stringer was a Cheshire animal and sporting artist. His sporting work included portraits of racehorses and hunters. A few of Stringers paintings are recorded as being horses in landscapes with their grooms.

His work is similar to that of Francis Sartorius though is a little less wooden and more mature. Stringers paintings have a wonderful "Country House" feeling about them and his horses convey a great sense of character. He often signed his work with initials.
